We’ve all heard of chicken and waffles so it was only a matter of time before someone came up with chicken and doughnuts.

A new restaurant slated to open next month in Washington, D.C. says it will specialize in the unlikely combination.

GBD (golden, brown and delicious) will serve a sandwich named after singer Luther Vandross made from a doughnut cut in half, bacon and chicken.  Apparently Vandross had a thing for fried chicken sandwiches and doughnuts.

“(The) first bite through is that kind of sweet and ‘pillowyness’ of the doughnut,” says GBD spokesperson Megan Bailey told WTOP radio.  “And then immediately you get to the crisp of not only bacon but then you get to the chicken right after that.”
