Has Jack Daniel’s Original Recipe Been Found?

A man in Wales believes he’s found the original recipe to Jack Daniel’s.

Mark Evans says the iconic whiskey was actually invented by his great-great-grandmother and then taken by her brother-in-law.  Evans says he found a recipe called “Tennessee whiskey” in an herbal medicine notebook created by his grandmother.

Evans says the recipe was taken to Lynchburg, Tennessee, by her brother-in-law John “Jack” Daniels and that the rest is history.

“My great-great-grandmother wrote in the book in 1853, and Jack Daniel’s is dated 1866, so it predates it,” Evans told the Llanelli Star.  “There is a link, because my grandmother’s grandfather’s brother — my great, great uncle — left for America and nobody ever heard from him after a couple of letters.
