This man just couldn’t wait for his dream of being a Denny’s manager to come true so he took matters into his own hands.

James B. Summers casually strolled into a Madison, Wisconsin, Denny’s and announced that he was the restaurant’s new manager.

According to the police report:

The briefcase toting gentleman wearing a maroon tie and long black trench coat was quite clear: he had been sent by corporate. He claimed he was the new general manager, that he had worked for the restaurant chain for 30-years and was starting his new job – right now.

He then went to work like a good employee and started cooking himself a burger and fries.

Police were called in after the real manager figured out that things weren’t as they seemed .  Officers found the fake manager turned short order cook walking off his meal away from the restaurant.

He reportedly told police:

There must have been a “paperwork goof-up.”   As police escorted Summers out of the restaurant, he shouted, “This is why you don’t dine and dash, kiddies!”

Things could have been a lot worse– police say he was packing heat.  You can read the entire police report here.
