What is up with the fascination of running clubs and drinking?  They’re everywhere these days… “Let’s run 5K to the bar and drink beer!”

How about not.

Well, the makers of Sam Adams want to cash in on this strange trend.  Today the Boston Beer Company announced that it has partnered up with the organizer of the Boston Marathon to create a special commemorative beer.

The Boston 26.2 Brew (the length of a marathon in miles) will be released ahead of this year’s big run.  Company officials say the beer will have “a lighter body and slightly lower alcohol level than many of the beers in the Samuel Adams roster.”

The beer will be available exclusively at Boston Marathon events and at a few select pubs and restaurants along the marathon route and in Boston.
